Everything ok.

The provider was excellent. However, now that the JR Pass is the same size and appearance as Shinkansen tickets, seat reservations, etc., it would be so much more helpful if it were a different color & not so easily confused. I know this is not your issue, but maybe you could pass the feedback on to JR… Passengers should be made aware they need to reserve space (no extra cost) for large bags on Shinkansen trains, or they risk having such bags removed from the train.

Overall, it was a very smooth process. I would say some things that could be improved would be information about how far in advance the past can be purchased before it expires. I had to do some googling to figure that out as the website doesn't make it clear. Also including video guides on how to get your Jr pass and make reservations at the ticket machines would be very helpful, has this was also something I had defined on YouTube.

Meet and Greet: We had a 7-hour delay arriving at Narita. We searched for our greeter upon departing customs, but no one met us. It would have been nice to receive a notification that there would not be someone to assist. We were in the worse situation with no more trains plus couldn't get our JR pass. Based on previous trips I was able to pick up our WiFi, get an Uber to our hotel, and pick up our JR Pass at Tokyo station the following day. I do appreciate the Meet/Greet price was refunded without any action on my part.

The jr rail pass worked as advertised and it was very easy to use

Overall, the experience was great. My friends and I had issues with our passes not working at times which was inconvenient (since we had to go to the ticket counter to be let through), but the convenience of the pass itself made up for that. Will definitely use it again for short term visits to Japan.

Awesome transportation, great deal for rail pass.

The JRpass is very handy. Unfortunately it's expensive - unless you plan on traveling long distances and/or visiting many locations during the duration of the pass, it may not work out financially. We used the pass for lots of small train rides especially in Tokyo. Use the online calculator to see if it makes financial sense for you. And don't forget to factor in the convenience. Making reservations is recommended. We usually make reservations for the next leg of our trip as we arrive at a new city. This way we can enjoy the city knowing that our ride out of town is already reserved. The people at the JR offices are very friendly and helpful. Only at one station did we have to wait more than a few minutes. Train stations are often massive and it can be confusing. Luckily every train route is color coded and train stops are also numbered. This makes it easy to know the direction of travel and the number of stops (much easier than remembering the names of stations). Remember that trains tend to run on-time so don't be late for those reserved seats. For unreserved travel, if you miss a train, chances are the next train is just a few minutes away. Overall the Japanese train system is a marvel of convenience, efficiency and comfort. Even if you don't use the JRpass, you'll enjoy the ride.
