Also include tickets for sight seeing so customer need not get cash for buying tickets. It can be additional or ticket or in JR pass itself.
I was extremely satisfied with the JR Pass. However, towards the end of my journey into Japan (which incidentally was for almost 1 month), I was left without the convenience and thrill of using JR Pass. This is because I could buy the JR Pass for a maximum duration of 21 days only. I hope you will understand that there may be many crazy people like me for whom this 21 days are not enough to explore and experience a beautiful country like Japan and know more about the way Japanese people leave their daily life.
Anyway now I am towards the end of my trip to Japan where I have spent hell of a lot of money (please note that I am not a businessman with a lot of money to spend. I am just a salaried person having fixed income) but I would go to the extent of saying that every penny that I have spent here in Japan was worth it.
At the end, just one last thing - I have always respected and adored Japan. Now that I have seen Japan and Japanese people closely, my feeling has really magnified. I am a very religious Hindu person. I will always pray to my God to shower all his blessings on Japan & Japanese people.
Thank you.
My JR pass fell in the side of an escalator in one of the train stations. Even with a copy of the voucher which we used to obtain the JR pass, we were told we were out of luck since we lost the pass. In this digital age, the pass should not be a small piece of paper but in a digital format on a phone or there should be some way to retrieve a new copy if lost or stolen. I would never recommend purchasing a JR pass as we wasted over $*** for accidentally dropping it and watching it fall down the side of an escalator. I will definitely tell all my friends and post where I can never to buy this pass. I know that this review will not be posted but I hope this feedback will help you change your policies so that future travelers have a better experience.
Using the JR Pass was easy and gave me the opportunity to explore wonderful Japan. I would recommend the service to others.
Using the JR pass was fine when you knew what was going on. However, booking of the trains should be available online as the ticket machibes are hard to navigate .
I don't believe there could possible be a better way to travel throughout Japan than the JR Pass. I have used it 12 times from 2007 to present. It saves a lot of time and money. I take students from Tokyo to Nagasaki and back, with a number of stops in between. Nothing could be easier for safe, easy, and convenient transportation. Additionally, anytime I have asked a JR office or gate staff member for directions, they have always been extremely friendly and helpful.
Thanks,
Dan
For the most part, we really loved using the JR Pass. One point we were a little unsure about (though maybe we didn't read the JR booklet carefully enough) was how to deal with trains with no reserved cars. It came clear to us eventually that we could still ride there without a reservation, but that we would need to be prepared to move seats or stand if someone came along for the seat we had chosen. If this is not clear in the JR booklet (again -- maybe we missed it!), making it clear would be helpful. Thanks for a terrific holiday! We'll be back with a new JR Pass before long. Love Japan... love the rail system... love the Pass!!
I have no complaints with the JRpass, it was surprisingly easy to use and great value for money if you are travelling around Japan. On arrival at Haneda airport I picked up the pass and booked a few trips on the Shikansen, with no problems at all. I also used the ticketing machine in the station to book further travel, which I thought was going to be problematic, but again was surprisingly easy to use and book tickets, there were also staff around should you have any difficulties. I highly recommend the JRpass for travelling around Japan.
